They shot down the opium pipe in my hand,
with guns, and the army followed behind;
他们用条约割裂我脚下的故壤
They parceled out the ground where I stand,
with those unequal treaties I've signed.
盛衰荣辱，不过过眼云烟，而已
Alas,the imperial glory,the rise and fall,
just as trassient as a fleeting cloud.

称霸天下，转瞬葬于火光
I used to own the world,
till the flames of war swallowed them all;
神圣光芒，熄灭三色旗下
Holy Light, which used to be sacred,
just extinguished under the tricolor.
死荣生哀，不过黄粱一梦，而已
Alas,the vicissitude,the life and death,
just as illusory as another daydream.

她离开时不曾片刻回首
She never turned when she left,
他归来时端起黑漆枪口
He is back, but a gun in his hand;
爱恨情仇，不过儿时稚语，而已
Alas, the sentiment,the love and hate,
just as puerile as a child's word.

万卷丹青之于时间长河，不过弹指一刹而已
the enurmous history records,
just as negligible as a wink,compared with the incessant time;
广袤天地之于浩瀚宇宙，不过沧海一砂而已
the vast occupied territories,
just as negligible as a grit, compared with the infinite universe.
苦乐有时，爱恨有时，兴衰有时，生死有时，你我皆有时
Alas,all the pain and pleasure, love and hate, rise and fall, life and death,including you and me,will reach their ends,
世间道理，如此而已
and that's the way, everything in this world goes.
